Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our maintenance team, providing expert repair and maintenance services for a wide range of heavy-duty equipment and vehicles. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension components, and electrical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Fabricate parts and components as needed using welding equipment and hand tools to support equipment repair and customization.
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers to facilitate repairs or move machinery safely within the worksite.
- Utilize automotive electrical system repair techniques including soldering and troubleshooting to resolve complex electrical issues.
- Perform alignment procedures and hydraulics repairs to optimize vehicle performance.
- Assist in assembly, disassembly, and overhaul of heavy machinery or farm equipment ensuring proper function and safety.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed; communicate effectively with customers regarding repair status and recommendations.
- Conduct safety inspections on industrial equipment to identify potential issues before failure occurs.
- Support team efforts in equipment maintenance programs through preventive care and timely repairs.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Diesel Technician or Heavy Equipment Mechanic with dealership or industrial backgrounds preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic codes related to heavy machinery.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding; familiarity with power tools is essential.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics software and electrical troubleshooting methods.
- Experience repairing a variety of vehicles such as trucks, forklifts, excavators, cranes, tractors, and farm machinery.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems for vehicles/equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with clear communication abilities for effective client interactions.
- Certification or training in diesel engine repair or heavy truck repair is highly desirable.
