Director of Strategic Initiatives
Private Equity–Backed Medical Technology Platform
Location: Greater Boston Area (Onsite/Hybrid)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
The Opportunity
This role is with a market-leading, private equity–backed medical technology company. The business has scaled significantly over the past several years through organic growth. The business is entering its next phase of growth with a clear mandate to further accelerate value creation through operational initiatives, new product launches, and strategic acquisitions in existing and new markets.
The company designs and manufactures a differentiated suite of rapid infusion and temperature management medical devices used in critical care, trauma, and surgical settings, with a growing global installed base. Manufacturing is fully centralized in the Boston area. The organization operates with a razor-razor blade model, driving strong margins, growing installed base, and meaningful runway ahead.
The Director of Strategic Initiatives is a newly created role designed to sit at the center of execution of the company’s priority strategic growth initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will provide structure, project leadership, and execution discipline across the company’s highest-priority initiatives. This is not a pure strategy role—it is an execution-first position for someone who thrives in complex, cross-functional environments and brings strong program management instincts, executive presence, and follow-through.
Role Overview
The Director of Strategic Initiatives will act as a force multiplier for the CEO and leadership team—driving progress across multiple workstreams, building repeatable execution frameworks, and ensuring critical initiatives move forward on time and with clarity.
Key focus areas include manufacturing automation, new product launches and regulatory readiness, commercial analytics, and integration planning for future acquisitions. The role requires comfort operating across functions including operations, engineering, R&D, regulatory, commercial, and finance, as well as the ability to communicate clearly with the Board and private equity sponsor.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Strategic Initiatives & PMO
- Own program management for a portfolio of high-impact strategic initiatives tied to growth, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Build and manage workplans, timelines, milestones, and dashboards to drive accountability and execution discipline.
- Partner with functional leaders to unblock issues, align resources, and maintain momentum across initiatives.
- Support a major manufacturing automation initiative, including partner evaluation, RFP development, and vendor selection.
- Coordinate cross-functional execution across operations, engineering, and finance to ensure successful implementation.
- Partner with R&D, regulatory, and commercial teams to project-manage new product introductions.
- Ensure readiness for FDA submissions and downstream commercial launch activities.
- Support sales pipeline analysis, forecasting, and performance tracking.
- Help leadership translate commercial data into actionable insights and prioritization.
- Provide integration “muscle” for future add-on acquisitions, supporting pre-close planning and post-close execution.
- Work closely with functional leaders to ensure acquisitions are integrated smoothly and aligned with the operating model.
- Prepare concise, high-quality materials for executive and Board discussions.
- Serve as a trusted partner to the CEO, with the presence and judgment to influence senior stakeholders.
- 4 – 10 years of experience in management consulting, operating roles, private equity portfolio support, or a blend of these.
- Strong background in execution-oriented roles—PMO, transformation, integration, or operational initiatives.
- Experience working in or closely with manufacturing, MedTech, life sciences, or similarly regulated environments.
- Comfortable operating across technical, commercial, and operational workstreams.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and lead cross-functional teams.
- Executive-level communication skills with comfort presenting to Boards and investors.
- Boston-area based (or willing to relocate); in-person presence is important for this role.
