Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Great Neck, NY – (Hybrid)
Compensation: $60,000–$75,000 Benefits
About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established construction company operating as part of a vertically integrated New York real estate organization.
With more than 40 years in business, over 200 employees and a portfolio spanning large-scale residential, commercial, hospitality and mixed-use developments, the company offers the stability of an established organization alongside an active pipeline of construction projects.
They are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting and finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build their construction accounting experience within a structured, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Process and enter a high volume of construction-related invoices.
- Review invoices for accuracy, appropriate approvals and correct job-cost coding.
- Match invoices against purchase orders, subcontracts and supporting documentation.
- Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries.
- Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and construction teams regarding invoice coding and approvals.
- Maintain accurate accounts payable records within Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate.
- Assist with account reconciliations, month-end close and accounts payable reporting.
- Ensure invoices and payments are processed in accordance with company policies and deadlines.
Requirements
- 1–4 years of Accounts Payable or general accounting experience.
- Previous experience within construction, general contracting or a project-based environment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of job-cost coding, purchase orders and construction invoices.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage a high volume of invoices and competing deadlines.
- Confident communicating with vendors, Project Managers and internal accounting teams.
