Role Overview:
We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to develop, implement, and maintain fire protection and life safety programs within a highly regulated industrial environment. This role is responsible for ensuring code compliance, reviewing fire protection system designs, supporting risk assessments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance workplace safety and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain a compliant fire protection and life safety program while monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement.
• Lead fire hazard analyses and risk assessments, recommending and verifying effective safety controls.
• Interpret and apply fire protection and life safety codes across engineering design and operational activities.
• Review and approve fire protection system designs, calculations, vendor submittals, and construction documentation.
• Oversee inspection, testing, maintenance strategies, impairment management, and reliability improvements for fire protection systems.
• Support system commissioning, acceptance testing, configuration management, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, permitting programs, and collaboration with local agencies.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship while serving as the fire protection engineering subject matter expert.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 6 years of fire protection engineering experience in industrial, manufacturing, chemical, nuclear, or other regulated facilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant fire protection certifications are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fire protection codes, life safety standards, hydraulic calculations, alarm and detection systems, and inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) programs.
• Experience with fire protection system design reviews, acceptance testing, and risk-based decision making.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a required security clearance.
