Role Overview:
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the reliability and performance of electrical systems within a refinery environment. This role is responsible for improving equipment reliability, supporting preventive maintenance initiatives, leading failure analysis, and providing technical expertise for maintenance and capital projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in refinery or chemical plant operations with a strong background in electrical reliability engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
• Improve the availability and reliability of electrical equipment across assigned operating units.
• Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for electrical equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.
• Lead equipment vulnerability assessments and develop long-term reliability strategies and performance improvement plans.
• Develop obsolescence and mitigation plans for underperforming and aging electrical equipment.
• Manage electrical condition monitoring programs, including transformer oil analysis, PDMA testing, motor vibration monitoring, and heat trace alarms.
• Maintain ETAP electrical distribution and arc flash models while developing protective device settings to ensure system safety and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, area classifications, and applicable engineering standards.
• Provide technical support for maintenance planning and capital projects, including design reviews, engineering documentation, and project execution.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8 years of experience in a refinery, chemical plant, or similar industrial environment.
• Experience improving electrical equipment reliability and preventive maintenance programs.
• Strong knowledge of root cause failure analysis (RCFA), electrical distribution systems, and condition monitoring programs.
• Experience with ETAP, arc flash studies, and protective device coordination.
• Familiarity with NEC, electrical safety standards, engineering design reviews, and project execution.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
