Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions, botulinum toxin treatments, and other specialized therapies.
- Perform wound suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile procedures following aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Manage acute pain and trauma cases in Level I and Level II trauma centers, providing critical care in emergency medicine and ICU settings.
- Coordinate patient care plans through case management, discharge planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across primary care, geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, and hospice & palliative medicine.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection/processing, radiology procedures like CT scans or sonography, and infection control protocols.
- Support patients with complex needs including those with developmental disabilities or memory care requirements while adhering to HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and confidentiality.
Experience
- Proven nursing experience in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, emergency room (ER), ICU, PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit), or outpatient clinics.
- Critical care experience in high-acuity settings like trauma centers or neonatal/pediatric intensive care units (PICU).
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT).
- Hands-on experience with advanced procedures such as cardiac catheterization, spinal taps, gastrostomy tube management, ostomy care, or dialysis treatments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology principles, pharmacology for medication administration and pain management strategies.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including seniors in assisted living or nursing home environments; working with individuals with disabilities or dementia/dementia care expertise highly valued.
- Ability to perform triage assessments in urgent care or occupational health settings; manage infectious disease protocols; implement infection control measures; and support post-acute care transitions.
