Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other transfer devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, accurately documenting all patient information within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Support clinical procedures including catheter care, wound care, medication administration under supervision, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Observe patients closely for changes in condition or behavior, especially in specialized units such as memory care, dementia care, or behavioral health settings.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols utilizing aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in diverse environments such as hospitals—including ICU, Level I Trauma Center, PICU—and outpatient clinics to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
- Assist with patient transfers using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensure safety during mobility activities.
- Provide compassionate support for individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or palliative care services.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a CNA in settings such as long-term care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living communities, hospitals (including emergency medicine or ICU), or home & community care environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Experience providing specialized care including Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care or working with individuals with disabilities across diverse age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to patient monitoring and basic medical procedures like phlebotomy or catheter management.
- Familiarity with infection prevention practices including aseptic technique and handling infectious diseases in acute or sub-acute settings.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or DME training are advantageous.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments such as urgent care centers or trauma units while maintaining a high standard of patient service and safety.
