The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day production operations within a biologicals manufacturing environment focused on humic and fulvic-based products. This role oversees plant floor operations, employee performance, equipment reliability, safety compliance, and production efficiency while serving as a hands-on operational leader within the facility.
The ideal candidate is a strong manufacturing leader who can balance team leadership, production oversight, troubleshooting, and operational execution in a fast-paced industrial environment. This individual will help drive safety, quality, productivity, continuous improvement, and equipment uptime while supporting overall plant performance goals.
Roles & Responsibilities
Production & Ops Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate daily manufacturing operations during assigned shifts.
- Lead production employees to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent operations.
- Monitor daily production schedules, output, inventory movement, and operational priorities.
- Ensure all production processes, batch documentation, and operational records are completed accurately and timely.
- Support startup, shutdown, and changeover activities across production lines and equipment.
- Review raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods to support quality and operational standards.
- Communicate production updates, operational concerns, staffing needs, and shift performance to plant leadership.
- Assist in maintaining production KPIs, operational dashboards, and inventory reporting.
Employee Leadership & Development
- Provide coaching, guidance, and leadership to manufacturing employees.
- Support onboarding and training of new employees on production processes, safety, and operational procedures.
- Assist with employee scheduling, attendance management, payroll review, and PTO coordination.
- Participate in performance management, corrective action, employee development, and recognition efforts.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented manufacturing culture.
Equipment & Maintenance Support
- Troubleshoot equipment and operational issues to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
- Coordinate and support routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Work closely with maintenance personnel and plant leadership to ensure equipment reliability.
- Assist with identifying maintenance needs, ordering parts, and supporting vendor coordination as needed.
- Support safe operation of production equipment, pumps, conveyors, mixers, motors, and related manufacturing systems.
Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and GMP-related operational standards.
- Lead and participate in safety meetings, trainings, and incident response activities.
- Ensure employees utilize proper PPE and maintain safe work practices at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready manufacturing environment.
- Identify operational improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, efficiency, waste reduction, and production flow.
- Assist plant leadership with continuous improvement initiatives and operational process enhancements.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
- Hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and operational problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced production environment with limited oversight.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple operational responsibilities simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, production processes, and safety procedures.
- Basic computer skills including production reporting, payroll systems, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ERP or manufacturing systems such as NetSuite preferred.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree, technical certification, or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 4–7 years of manufacturing, production, or industrial operations experience preferred.
- Previous leadership, shift lead, maintenance coordination, or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Experience within agriculture, biologicals, chemical, liquid processing, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and reaching overhead.
- Ability to work in dusty, hot, cold, noisy, and industrial manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment and industrial machinery.
- Ability to wear required PPE and work safely in production environments.
Work Environment
- Industrial biologicals manufacturing environment producing humic and fulvic-based products.
- Exposure to production equipment, raw materials, forklifts, pumps, conveyors, and industrial processing systems.
- Fast-paced manufacturing setting requiring flexibility, urgency, and strong operational leadership.
- Occasional overtime, weekend, or extended-hour support may be required based on production demands.
