POSITION OVERVIEW
The Production Intern position will focus on learning and performing various duties in all production departments to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Manufacturing Facility: Learn what it is like to work in a modern-day manufacturing facility, how to excel in a fast-paced work environment and the general production flow.
- Time Management: How to establish strong time-management skills
- Blueprints: Learn to read, understand and apply blueprints in building our product.
- Tools and measuring: Learn how to use tape measures, protractors and other measuring equipment. Learn and use general hand tools and power tools.
- Parts inspection: Learn how to inspect incoming parts for compliance to company standards and quality control.
- Production Stations: Depending on your age, you will be able to participate in observational or hands-on learning in:
- Cutting
- Machining
- Welding
- Finishing
- Powder Coating
- Assembling
- Palletizing
- Forklift Operation
- Quality Control: Learn to identify quality issues and how to integrate quality into the final product
- Perform other duties necessary to achieve our vision, fulfill our purpose, and live out our values.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a sophomore, junior, senior, or recent graduate of high school (must be 16 or older)
- Have the ability to abide by Spika company policies and procedures
- Have the ability to follow directions
- Have the ability to work safely
- Show enthusiasm
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn
- Have the ability to participate effectively as a member of a team
- Have time management skills
- Have basic math skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position works mostly indoors with exposure to moderate-to-loud noise. This can be a physically demanding job. Must have the ability to lift 10-25 pounds.
