Job Summary
In The Insurance Collector is responsible for reviewing accuracy of payments for inpatient and outpatient claims billed to insurance companies, managed care entities, government programs, and other liable third parties.
- Responsible for ensuring timely filing and all guidelines are met; providing quality control checks on paper and electronic claims, process tracers, reviewing denials and related correspondence, initiating appeals, identifying underpayments from insurances, assuring accounts are properly adjusted and discounted, and also navigating difficult collection situations to resolution.
Licensure and Certification:

Education:
- Minimum High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of collections or billing experience in a hospital, medical and/or related field
- Computer experience required
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge and ability to utilize a Computer
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, to be a self-starter, and demonstrate a pleasant voice and good public relations while performing duties.
- HMO/PPO knowledge required.

- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
