Pay Range: MEDICAL ASSISTANT (MSO) - $21.90 to $35.04
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant is primarily responsible for providing support to the clinical providers by facilitating patient flow, assisting with various patient care activities, and performing related administrative and clerical functions when needed, including: collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the EHR for the physicians’ review, scheduling of appointments and procedures, complete and accurate message taking, routing messages to the appropriate area for direction, order and referral entry, and acquisition of pre-authorizations and basic registration and updating of demographics. Assists in preparing patients for examinations and procedures; accurately takes and records vital signs; enters necessary medical data in EMR/EHR; stocks and maintains exam room.
Licensure:
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) preferred
- Current BLS card (American Heart Association provider)
- Current CA Phlebotomy Certificate preferred
Education:
- Graduate of Medical Assistant program
Experience:
- Minimum two (2) or more years recent experience working in a medical office
- Two (2) years of experience working in medical practice setting preferred
- Two (2) years of EMR/EHR experience highly preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills; customer focused; excellent attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment.

Physical Demands – Patient Care:
- Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
- Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
- Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds.
- Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional pushing of wheelchairs and medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
- Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
