About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Polymer Welding Technical Specialist to provide field support, technical troubleshooting, and hands-on training for polyethylene piping and engineered polymer systems.
This position serves as a subject-matter expert in HDPE and polymer welding methods, including butt fusion, electrofusion, socket fusion, extrusion welding, and hot-wedge fusion. The role combines customer and project-site support with technical training, procedure development, and quality oversight.

What You’ll Do
- Provide on-site welding and installation support to customers, installers, contractors, and engineers
- Support polyethylene piping, large-diameter pipe and fittings, geosynthetic, and protective-lining projects
- Develop and maintain technical procedures for polymer welding methods
- Support butt fusion, electrofusion, socket fusion, extrusion, and hot-wedge welding applications
- Develop and deliver hands-on training in field, classroom, and shop environments
- Train and certify customer technicians and internal personnel
- Maintain accurate certification, training, and renewal records
- Troubleshoot complex fusion, welding, and installation challenges
- Conduct project-site visits, inspections, and technical consultations
- Help ensure welding procedures align with applicable ASTM and DVS standards
- Prepare clear technical documentation and communicate findings to customers and internal teams
- Travel domestically and internationally approximately 50–75% of the time
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Five or more years of experience installing and fusing polyethylene piping systems
- Strong knowledge of HDPE pipe, fittings, and fusion procedures
- HDPE butt-fusion, electrofusion, and/or socket-fusion certification preferred
- Experience training, coaching, or mentoring technical personnel
- Strong analytical and field-troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to clearly explain technical processes to different audiences
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently at customer and project sites
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Valid U.S. passport required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline preferred
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs or ladders, bend, squat, and handle tools
- Comfortable working outdoors and in active industrial environments across varying climates
- Ability to operate material-handling equipment when required
