Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources professional to join our organization. This person will play a vital role in managing human capital processes, fostering employee relations, and supporting organizational development initiatives. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and expertise in various HR functions, including talent acquisition, benefits administration, compliance, and workforce management. The ideal candidate will contribute to creating a positive work environment and ensuring the effective implementation of HR policies aligned with company goals.
Responsibilities
- Recruit employees for all Heartland Supported Living, Inc. positions by posting job opportunities and actively seeking employees.
- Conduct interviews and follow through with hiring processes.
- Schedule and assign training for Heartland employees. This includes new hire onboarding as well as continued education courses.
- Ensure all training courses are completed before advancing employees to the next training.
- Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed accurately before advancing to the next step of training.
- Lead classroom trainings when applicable.
- Ensure all background screenings are complete including FCSR, EDL, Exclusions, EVerify, and Exceptions
- Ensure the Work Opportunity Tax Credit survey is completed for every new employee and submitted online.
- Provide CPR-FA trainings to all Heartland employees when needed and submit documentation to obtain certification for each employee. (If not already a certified trainer, the person hired must be willing to take the course and become a certified trainer within 6 months of employment).
- Track various trainings that expire and ensure that Heartland and its staff remain in compliance with training regulations.
- Reach out to employees finishing their probationary period, explain and offer Heartland’s benefits package.
- Remove employees from Heartland’s benefits package within two business days of termination.
- Maintain contact with Heartland employees with regular check ins and evaluations to ensure their needs are met and Heartland is giving them every tool necessary to perform their job at the best of their ability.
- Track data and fill in spreadsheet for the Heartland Hall of Famers program.
- Complete all disciplinary actions including termination and ensure a witness is present in each meeting.
- Respond and return all employment verification requests in a timely manner.
- Respond and return all unemployment protests by the deadline outlined in the letter.
- Send garnishment paperwork to CPU for payroll entry.
- Complete quarterly file audits.
- Calculate payroll for all field staff working for Heartland Supported Living, Inc.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in human resources management (minimum of 2 years experience)
- Bachelors Degree in related field.
- Experience in the developmental disability field is preferred.
Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
