Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Day Center Aide to provide supportive care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs in a community-based setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and engagement of participants, fostering a welcoming environment that promotes independence and quality of life. This role involves working closely with individuals who may have developmental disabilities, dementia, or other health conditions, requiring patience, attentiveness, and a strong commitment to person-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assist participants with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents' vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior
- Provide medication administration following prescribed care plans and HIPAA guidelines
- Support meal preparation and assist with feeding as needed, ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Utilize proper techniques such as Hoyer lifts or resident transfers to ensure safe mobility and prevent injury
- Engage residents in social activities and therapeutic programs to promote mental stimulation and socialization
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility by performing light cleaning duties in accordance with health standards
- Document care activities accurately while respecting privacy and confidentiality standards
- Recognize signs of medical emergencies or behavioral issues and respond appropriately, including administering CPR or first aid if necessary
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and support teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living, long-term care, home health, hospice care, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred; ongoing training will be provided if necessary
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, autism support, or working with people with developmental disabilities is advantageous
- Ability to work compassionately with seniors or individuals with complex health needs in a home or community setting
- Strong observational skills to monitor patient condition and report concerns promptly
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when required and assist residents with mobility using proper techniques such as Hoyer lifts
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and documentation standards such as HIPAA compliance
- Patience, empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Must be reliable, responsible, and committed to providing high-quality resident-centered care
