Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Pipefitter to plan, fabricate, install, and maintain high-pressure pipe systems and related equipment. You will interpret blueprints to lay out, measure, cut, and weld piping—including steel, copper, and plastic—ensuring all systems comply with safety regulations and structural specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude and experience in commercial or industrial settings.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Blueprint Interpretation: Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout, material requirements, and sequence of installation.
- Fabrication & Assembly: Cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes using saws, pipe-cutting torches, and pipe-threading machines.
- Welding & Joining: Secure pipes to structures, walls, and fixtures using brackets, clamps, welding equipment (TIG/MIG/Stick), or soldering/brazing techniques.
- System Testing: Perform pressure tests (hydrostatic or pneumatic) on installed systems to ensure zero leaks and compliance with safety standards.
- Maintenance & Repair: Inspect, diagnose, and repair existing high-pressure, hydraulic, heating, cooling, or chemical piping systems.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA and company safety guidelines, including using proper PPE and following hazard protocols (e.g., in confined spaces or around toxic materials).
- Material Management: Organize, transport, and maintain materials and tools on site.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in industrial or commercial pipe fitting.
- Technical Skills: Proven ability to read and interpret isometric drawings and blueprints.
- Welding Proficiency: Strong knowledge of welding techniques (carbon/stainless steel) is required (certs preferred).
- Tools: Proficient with industrial tools such as torches, threading machines, and grinders.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift over 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work at heights.
- Certification: Valid driver's license and relevant industry certifications (e.g., UA Pipefitter Certification) are highly desirable.
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or trade school certificate.
