Dialysis Patient Care Technician (PCT / CCHT)

Shift Requirements
Clinic-based schedule (varies by location and operational needs)
License / Certification Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- CCHT certification required within state/CMS guidelines
- All applicable state licensure and training requirements must be met
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of dialysis PCT experience within the last 2 years required
- Experience with vascular access cannulation preferred
Preferred Skills
- Hemodialysis machine setup and operation
- Vascular access cannulation and monitoring
- Patient monitoring and vital signs
- Infection control and safety protocols
- Accurate documentation and charting
- Strong communication and patient care skills
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and operate hemodialysis machines according to prescribed treatment orders
- Obtain and document pre and post-treatment vital signs and patient weights
- Monitor patients during dialysis treatment and report changes in condition to the RN or supervisor
- Perform vascular access evaluation and cannulation as permitted by state law
- Discontinue dialysis treatments and ensure patient stability prior to discharge
- Complete accurate treatment documentation and dialysis flow sheets
- Maintain cleanliness and disinfection of equipment and treatment areas
- Support infection control and quality improvement initiatives
- Assist with laboratory specimen collection and preparation
- Provide patient education and reinforce treatment plan information under nurse supervision
- Assist with transitional dialysis care and patient support programs when applicable
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and assisting patients
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs with assistance devices or team support as needed
- Exposure to a clinical healthcare environment and infectious materials
