Located in Salida Colorado, amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Rockies and world-class recreation, our Critical Access Hospital serves as a vital lifeline to the surrounding communities. With the retirement of our esteemed Chief Executive Officer, Salida Hospital District, dba Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, is seeking a dynamic leader, with a proven track record of success, who can build upon our foundation of exceptional service and innovation. As CEO, you’ll have the chance to continue to shape the future of healthcare delivery in our region, driving initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and improve community health.
Serving a population of between 45k and 50k people, and with a service area of approximately 8,000 square miles, our dedicated team of healthcare professionals operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital and adjoining Outpatient Pavilion with over 14 specialties in Salida, and five additional Rural Health Clinics located in Salida, Buena Vista, Saguache, Westcliffe and a clinic in Fairplay, Colorado. The District has approximately 800 employees, including more than 100 active medical staff, three operating rooms, a full service Imaging department, a full service Laboratory/Pathology department, two retail pharmacies, and a Level 4 rated Emergency department. Salida Hospital District continues to grow its footprint and referral base and enjoys a very strong balance sheet. Key balance sheet metrics include: DCOH approximating 266, net DAR of 50.0, average age of plant of 9.7, and DSC ratio of 9.8. The District’s annual net revenue for 2024 of $157.9M generated an operating margin of 9.6% and a total margin of 13.5%.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree, preferably in Health Care Administration or an MBA, and will have a minimum of three years of current, continuous service as CEO of a Critical Access Hospital or Rural PPS Hospital, with a minimum of 200 employees (not including nursing home/assisted living facilities).
