Responsibilities
- Prepare the operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe, sterile environment for procedures.
- Gather required instruments and supplies, pass instruments to the surgeon, and serve as a surgical assistant as needed (not a certified surgical first assistant); anticipate the needs of the team.
- Troubleshoot instruments and equipment, anticipate additional supplies, and assist with intraoperative needs.
- Demonstrate efficient, organized case planning and communicate the surgical plan with the team; mentor or precept others when appropriate.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and patient safety protocols.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and stocking of the perioperative areas as assigned; support ongoing instrument and supply readiness.
Requirements
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with active status
- Experience: Perioperative or surgical tech experience preferred
- Ability to work in an operating room/perioperative setting and maintain the sterile field
- Availability for 4x10-hour daytime shifts and potential on-call coverage as required
- Eligible to work in the United States and able to complete facility-specific credentialing
