Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adults, adolescents, and geriatrics with medical conditions on a Med/Surg service
- Assess patient and family needs; develop and revise a patient-centered plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Administer medications and treatments; monitor responses and adjust care as condition changes
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, discharge planning, and self-care at home
- Document care activities accurately; ensure infection prevention practices and safety protocol adherence
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, and ancillary staff; participate in quality improvement and patient advocacy efforts
- Support and mentor junior staff as appropriate; participate in on-call coverage as required
Requirements
- Current New York State RN license
- BLS and ACLS (AHA or RQI) certifications; NIHSS preferred/required per description
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience
- Demonstrated ability to care for adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations
- Ability to work a 3x12 rotating schedule including weekends and holidays; availability for on-call shifts as assigned
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient-family education skills; effective communication and teamwork
