Our East Coast healthcare client is seeking an experienced Workday Functional Lead to drive the design, configuration, and optimization of Workday Onboarding and Associated Personnel solutions.
This role will play a key part in delivering a seamless worker lifecycle experience—from pre-hire through onboarding—across both employees and non-traditional workforce populations (e.g., contingent workers, contractors, affiliates).

Key Responsibilities
Functional Leadership
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Workday Onboarding & Associated Personnel
- Lead end-to-end implementations, enhancements, and production support
- Facilitate discovery sessions and translate business needs into scalable Workday solutions
- Provide strategic guidance on workforce onboarding and engagement models
- Configure onboarding processes for employees and non-employees
- Design task frameworks, notifications, and onboarding portals
- Partner with HR to improve new hire experience and streamline pre-hire activities
- Ensure alignment with Recruiting, Benefits, Payroll, and Compliance
- Configure and manage worker types, including:
- Contingent workers
- Contractors and consultants
- Interns, affiliates, and external staff
- Design onboarding/offboarding processes for non-employee populations
- Support vendor management and integrations with external systems (e.g., VMS)
- Ensure proper security roles, access provisioning, and compliance tracking
- Design and maintain Workday business process frameworks
- Identify automation and standardization opportunities
- Optimize workflows across HR, IT, Security, and Procurement
- Define and maintain role-based security models
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Support audit readiness and documentation
- Collaborate with HR, Talent Acquisition, IT, Legal, and Vendor Management
- Lead workshops, UAT sessions, and training initiatives
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders
- Ensure accurate workforce data tracking across all worker types
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards for onboarding metrics
- Support integrations with third-party systems (e.g., identity management, background checks, VMS)
- Analyze Workday releases for functional impact
- Recommend and implement new features
- Drive continuous improvement and enhancement initiatives
- 5 years of Workday HCM functional experience
- Strong expertise in: Workday Onboarding and Contingent / Associated Workforce Management
- Hands-on experience with: Workday Business Process Framework and Security Configuration
- Proven track record leading implementations or major enhancements
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
