Job Description
The Workday Functional Lead – Onboarding & Associated Personnel leads the design, configuration, and optimization of Workday solutions that support employee onboarding and non-employee or associated worker populations, including contingent workers, contractors, affiliates, and interns. This role owns end-to-end functional delivery from pre-hire through onboarding, ensuring a seamless worker lifecycle while maintaining strict compliance, security, and data integrity. The position combines deep Workday HCM expertise with strong stakeholder leadership to enhance workforce engagement and the overall new hire experience.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Workday Onboarding and associated personnel, including contingent and non-employee populations.
- Lead end-to-end Workday implementations, enhancements, and production support activities for onboarding and associated workforce processes.
- Facilitate discovery sessions with stakeholders to gather, clarify, and prioritize business requirements.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, high-quality Workday solutions that support onboarding and associated workforce management.
- Design, configure, and maintain Workday onboarding processes for both employees and non-employees.
- Develop and optimize task frameworks, notifications, and onboarding portals to create a seamless and engaging experience.
- Partner closely with HR, talent acquisition, payroll, benefits, and compliance teams to ensure alignment across the full worker lifecycle.
- Provide strategic guidance on onboarding strategies and workforce engagement models to improve pre-hire and new hire efficiency.
- Ensure that Workday configurations and processes adhere to security, compliance, and data integrity standards.
- Use analytic capabilities to assess onboarding performance, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend enhancements.
- Lead stakeholder communication related to Workday onboarding initiatives, including status updates, issue resolution, and change impacts.
- Support ongoing optimization of the Workday business process framework and security related to onboarding and associated personnel.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of Workday HCM functional experience.
- Deep expertise in Workday Onboarding configuration and processes.
- Strong experience managing associated and contingent workforce processes within Workday.
- Proficiency with the Workday business process framework, including design and optimization.
- Strong understanding of Workday security concepts as they apply to onboarding and associated personnel.
- Proven track record leading Workday implementations or major enhancements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead stakeholder communication and provide effective leadership across cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate processes, data, and outcomes related to onboarding and workforce engagement.
- Experience collaborating with talent acquisition, HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance teams within a Workday environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience providing strategic guidance on onboarding and workforce engagement models.
- Experience in benefits administration within Workday HCM.
- Experience improving new hire and pre-hire processes in partnership with HR and talent acquisition.
- Ability to facilitate discovery workshops and translate complex business needs into clear functional designs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present recommendations and solutions to diverse stakeholders.
Work Environment
The role operates in a technology-driven environment centered on Workday HCM, with a particular focus on onboarding, associated workforce management, business process configuration, security, and benefits administration. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75.00 - $95.00/hr.
