About the Role
We are a professional services and consulting firm looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to help strengthen our accounting function in Phoenix/Scottsdale. You'll own core full-cycle accounting work — journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close — and play a key role in keeping our financial records accurate across multiple entities. Responsibilities
- General Ledger & Journal Entries - 25%: Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, recurring); maintain the GL; ensure accurate, timely records across entities
- Reconciliations - 20%: Monthly bank, credit card, and GL reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies
- Month-End & Year-End Close - 15%: Support and execute close, including supporting schedules and account analysis
- Accounts Payable & Receivable - 15%: Process and review AP/AR activity — invoice entry, vendor management, payment tracking
- Check Processing & Records - 10%: Process incoming checks (scan, deposit, record); maintain organized physical and electronic financial documentation (primarily on-site)
- Intercompany - 5%: Support intercompany transactions and related reconciliations
- Legal Support - 5%: Backup accounting support for legal operations, including trust/IOLTA activity (some on-site coordination)
- Reporting & Audit Support - 5%: Help prepare financial reports and supporting schedules; support audit prep and ad hoc analysis
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
- Solid grasp of GAAP and core accounting principles
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Sharp attention to detail and a high bar for accuracy
- Comfort managing multiple priorities against recurring deadlines
- Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to work independently
- A plus: multi-entity or professional services / law firm accounting experience
- QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) - Preferred
- Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on operational efficiency and continuous improvement
Hybrid schedule:
3 fixed days in office, 2 remote, once eligible. In-office days are set (not flexible day-to-day) to keep check deposits and mail on a predictable cadence. Based in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area — local candidates only. New hires may work primarily on-site during initial onboarding/training before transitioning to hybrid.
Salary : $55,000 - $70,000
