Hardware Support Engineer
$72,000 - $93,000
Palo Alto, CA (Hybrid/remote)
Cognizant is supporting a high profile client project focused on building, deploying and maintaining advanced imagery hardware used for large scale mapping. You will work hands-on with custom cameras, sensor rigs, cables, geolocation equipment, and other bespoke hardware while supporting engineering teams and global field operations.
What you’ll do
- Test, debug and support advanced client-designed hardware systems
- Assist engineering teams with evaluation of high resolution cameras, mechanical assemblies, electronics and geolocation components
- Manage field support technical projects and coordinate with regional leads
- Analyze recurring hardware failures and perform hands-on troubleshooting
- Create, update and maintain technical documentation, test procedures and repair guides
- Act as a subject matter expert for global troubleshooting and repair standards
- Identify technical knowledge gaps across field teams and help drive improvements
- Investigate intermittent hardware faults and contribute to root cause analysis
- Maintain alignment with global and regional field support workflows
What you’ll need
- 3 years relevant hands-on hardware support or electronics experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities
- Proficiency with hand tools, light power tools, measuring tools and wiring diagrams
- Experience repairing electronics, cameras, automotive components or similar systems
- Working knowledge of Linux and ticketing systems
- Ability to travel, sometimes on short notice
- Valid passport (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Clean driving record and ability to operate motor vehicles
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in changing environments
Nice to have
- Experience with vehicle parts, PCB repair, warehouse or hardware inventory management
- Familiarity with Google Sheets, Gmail, and basic spreadsheet tasks
- Automotive repair experience

$72,000 - $93,000 base plus discretionary annual incentive program.
