POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Conduct and engage in assignments related to existing products and ensure that product design criteria are maintained to meet customer, Marketing and Quality Standards. Anticipate, analyze, and solve technical problems related to Company products.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Research and Design, Development Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Purchasing to ensure that existing product designs are updated and maintained.
- Make design changes as required, update product documentation following the ECR process.
- Support the Production Departments as requested to ensure that quality and applicable standards are maintained on an on-going basis. Provide engineering assistance to make improvements to existing products as necessary to meet these requirements.
- Act as liaison between Marketing, Manufacturing and Agency Approval on all customized orders where existing product structure is being used as the starting point.
- Assist various departments, provide test engineering and product testing. Perform component parts research to solve problems as they relate to design and operation.
- Coordinate with the Standards Engineer to ensure that all products meet appropriate standards. Conduct periodic engineering audits regarding product standards and submit reports as required.
- Research existing product design for possible improvement as it relates to new technology and cost reductions.
- Assist Quality Assurance in establishing and revising quality standards for existing products.
- Ensure, through product testing and research, that consumer safety is being maintained.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineering in establishing effective design criteria, B.O.M.’s, and manufacturing routings.
- Work with the Purchasing Department to ensure that all new vendor components meet the required quality standards, including UL, CSA, and NSF specifications.
- Perform other related duties as requested by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mechanical, sheet metal, and electrical design experience.
- Knowledge of CAD (CREO preferred) and Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude and an intense desire to learn.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
EDUCATIONAL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5 – 10 years’ experience in product design.
- Experience in the food service equipment manufacturing industry preferred.
