Network System Specialist

Our client is looking for a hands-on 5G IODT Test Engineer to join our lab team in Plano, TX. This role is at the heart of interoperability development testing — working directly with chipset partners to validate 5G NR features and drive root-cause analysis at the protocol level.

Job Title: Network QA Engineer 4 – 5G IODT Test Engineer

Location: Plano, TX

Contract: 12 Months Onsite (Possible Extension)

Pay Rate: $61.00 per hour on W2

About The Role:

• Lead 5G NR IODT development and chipset-level interoperability testing (primary focus — 90% of the role).
• Perform protocol-level debugging and deep log analysis across MAC, RLC, RRC, and PDCP layers using QXDM and DM logs.
• Convert product and feature requirements into structured system test cases; execute and document results.
• Investigate throughput, latency, and interoperability issues; provide detailed root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Client HQ, cross-functional teams, and chipset partners across Qualcomm, MediaTek, Apple, Sequans, and Sony ecosystems.
• Present test reports and findings to customers and senior stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 8–10 yrs (BS), 6 yrs (MS). Flexible for strong hands-on
• Must have QXDM/ DM log analysis, Chipset Testing (Qualcomm, MediaTek, Apple)
• 5G NR/3GPP protocols
• MAC layer debugging
• Protocol-level RCA
• IODT lab testing

• PHY · MAC · RLC · RRC · PDCP
• 4G & 5G air interface
• E2E protocol flows
• eMTC · NB-IoT · S1 & X2 interface
• 3GPP Rel activities

Tools & Test Equipment

• XCAL / QXDM, Wireshark, Protocol analyzers, Channel emulator, Spectrum analyzers, Signal generators.

Nice To Have

• RAN (with protocol testing), EMS / network element mgmt., SW development exposure, Power BI
