What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook/Prep Cook position at Harvest?
Harvest is an Australian-owned café and restaurant where everything is made from scratch. We hire Cooks for prep and for the line, and we move people from one to the other as they're ready.
What you'll do
- Prep: work through the daily prep list, follow recipes exactly, and portion, label, and date everything
- Line: cook every dish from your station to the recipe and the plating standard, and keep up with tickets through service
- Have your station fully prepped before service starts
- Say so right away when product is running low, something is below standard, or equipment is failing
- Keep your station clean while you work, and break it down and restock it at the end of the shift
What you get
- $16 to $17 per hour on prep and $17 to $18 on the line, with raises that follow published criteria rather than tenure
- A shift meal every shift
- Training on more stations
- A path to Lead Cook, Sous Chef, and Chef
What we're looking for
- For the line, at least six months in a professional kitchen or a culinary program
- For prep, kitchen experience helps but isn't required
- Someone who follows a recipe precisely and takes direction well
- On time for every shift, including weekends and holidays, and able to lift up to 40 lbs
