Job Summary
The Injection Molding Machine Operator I is responsible for operating and monitoring plastic injection molding machines to produce thermoplastic parts that meet quality and specification requirements. This entry-level role performs routine machine operation, inspection, and secondary processes under supervision.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate injection molding machines under established procedures and supervision
- Monitor machine operation by observing and listening for irregularities or malfunctions
- Perform secondary operations, including trimming flash and drilling holes
- Conduct visual inspections of parts to ensure conformance to specifications
- Accurately count, package, and label acceptable quality parts
- Maintain accurate records of production and labor hours
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned
- Keep work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards
- Follow all company safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to lift 55lbs
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work in a noisy and fast paced environment
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail is required
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend written English for safety, quality, and production documentation purposes
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year Injection Molding Machine Operator experience (preferred)
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
- Primarily production floor environment
- Often exposed to loud, bustling or dusty environments
- Regularly required to sit and stand.
- Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
