Job Summary
Hampton Inn by Hilton Irving Las Colinas is seeking a dependable, motivated, and hands-on Maintenance Engineer (Full-Time / Part-Time) responsible for maintaining the overall condition of the hotel property while ensuring compliance with Hilton Brand Standards. This position is responsible for the upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, building systems, the pool area, and exterior grounds.
The ideal candidate takes pride in keeping the hotel safe, clean, and fully operational while providing prompt service to both guests and team members. This role requires working closely with the Housekeeping department to ensure guest rooms are maintained to Hilton quality standards and are ready for arriving guests.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, including PTAC units, plumbing fixtures, lighting, televisions, locks, doors, furniture, and other equipment.
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and work orders while delivering exceptional guest service in accordance with Hilton Brand Standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building maintenance issues.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on guest rooms, equipment, and hotel systems.
- Conduct daily walks of the entire property, including every floor, guest hallways, stairwells, public areas, exterior grounds, parking lot, pool area, and back-of-house spaces to identify maintenance issues, safety hazards, cleanliness concerns, or brand standard deficiencies. Correct issues whenever possible and report larger repairs to management.
- Work closely with the Housekeeping team by inspecting guest rooms, correcting maintenance issues before rooms are placed back into service, and ensuring rooms meet Hilton Brand Standards prior to guest arrival.
- Maintain and monitor the pool and spa to meet local health regulations and Hilton standards.
- Inspect and assist in maintaining fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, sprinkler systems, exit signage, and other life safety equipment.
- Maintain exterior lighting, sidewalks, parking lot areas, landscaping, and the overall appearance of the property.
- Perform minor drywall, painting, caulking, tile, flooring, and basic carpentry repairs.
- Assist with furniture assembly, fixture installation, renovation projects, and room refreshes as needed.
- Coordinate repairs with outside vendors and contractors when necessary.
- Maintain an organized maintenance shop, tools, equipment, and parts inventory.
- Follow OSHA regulations, hotel safety procedures, and Hilton preventive maintenance standards.
- Assist other hotel departments when operational needs require support.
- Ensure all work is completed in a timely, professional manner while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for guests and team members.
Qualifications
- Previous hotel or commercial facility maintenance experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general building maintenance.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance programs and hotel operations.
- Knowledge of Hilton Brand Standards or willingness to learn and consistently follow Hilton operating procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple work orders.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call responsibilities.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and EPA Certification are a plus but not required.
