What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical HVAC Piping Foreman position at H & G Systems?
Mechanical HVAC Piping Foreman (Special Projects / Commercial & Industrial)
Location: Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
Job Type: Full-Time | Year-Round Work
Work on Complex Mechanical Projects That Require Real Skill
H&G Systems has been a trusted mechanical contractor since 1968, delivering high-level commercial and industrial HVAC and piping solutions across the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Our work goes beyond standard installs, supporting complex systems in data centers, manufacturing facilities, food plants, laboratories, and occupied buildings where precision and experience matter.
We are hiring a Mechanical HVAC Piping Foreman to lead special projects that require advanced field skill, adaptability, and leadership. If you enjoy hands-on work, solving unique challenges, and working on high-level systems, this is a strong long-term opportunity.
What You'll Do
This role focuses on non-routine mechanical and HVAC piping projects, including retrofits, shutdown work, specialty installations, and equipment replacements. You will perform and lead advanced piping and mechanical installations while working closely with apprentices or small crews. Most projects involve hands-on work in the field, often with a high level of independence and responsibility. You will interpret mechanical drawings, coordinate daily job site activities, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. This role also includes welding, fabrication, and installation of piping systems tied to chillers, pumps, and other large mechanical equipment, along with supporting crane picks and equipment setting when needed. Projects may require occasional night or weekend work, especially during plant shutdowns.
What We Offer
• Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour, depending on experience
• Company take-home truck
• Overtime opportunities, including nights and weekends
• Stable, long-term work with a respected mechanical contractor
• Access to ongoing training and professional development
Why Work With Us
• Work on complex commercial and industrial mechanical systems, not repetitive installs
• Variety of projects including retrofits, shutdowns, and specialty work
• Strong leadership team with hands-on support
• Opportunity to mentor apprentices and build leadership skills
• Long-term career stability with consistent project flow
• Team culture built on respect, craftsmanship, and accountability
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a highly skilled mechanical foreman with strong experience in commercial or industrial HVAC piping systems. You should be confident performing pipe welding in all positions using 6010/6011 electrodes, with occasional 7018, and have TIG welding experience on stainless steel piping. Experience with copper soldering (1/4 inch to 3 inch), grooved and threaded piping systems, and press systems like ProPress and MegaPress is expected. You should be comfortable retrofitting piping to chillers, pumps, and mechanical equipment, as well as installing chilled water and heating water systems. The ability to read mechanical drawings, coordinate work in the field, and lead a small crew or apprentice is important. Experience signaling cranes for setting RTUs, MAUs, or similar equipment is a plus. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a safety-first mindset are critical. A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record are required.
Preferred Experience
Prior foreman or leadership experience is preferred, along with any bilingual (Spanish) capability.
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to lift and move heavy equipment, climb ladders to rooftops or mechanical spaces, work in confined areas, and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods in both indoor and outdoor environments.
