What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHEF position at Guardian Recovery?
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Chef is responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking food for clients and employees and for overseeing the kitchen. The chef will provide services to clients whose ages range from adolescents to geriatric.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
At least one year of experience is required, composed of evidence of experience the area of sanitation, hygiene, and food preparation.
Must have two years of sobriety prior to hire, if recovering from a substance use disorder and participate in a self-help program.

- Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication, observation & Written skills.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
- Prepare individual plates according to portion control standards.
- Properly garnishing plates to assure attractiveness.
- Help to prepare late trays, as needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge/ability to break down stream tables and store leftovers in appropriate containers after properly labeling and dating.
- Always keep the work area clean and in sanitary condition.
- Report to work in clean and neat clothes.
- Wash hands frequently throughout the day and before preparing food.
- Leave the work area and equipment clean before going off duty.
- Demonstrate ability to assure safe and efficient operation in performing his/her abilities.
- Get needed food supplies from the storeroom, freezer and refrigerator using appropriate body mechanics.
- Obey safety rules and regulations of the department and report any faulty equipment or unsafe conditions to the Director and/or Supervisor.
- Carry out instructions from the Director and/or Supervisor and make necessary changes as directed by management.
- Follow the policies and procedures of the facility and department.
- Attend departmental and facility in services, as indicated.
- Complete special projects or other related work as requested or required.
- Work with others, adaptable to change and willingness to provide services in other areas of the facility within the limits of skill and training.
- Adapt to changing situations or work assignments.
- Conform to uniform and dress code, personal hygiene, and good grooming.
- Wear and properly display a name badge.
- Respond to guidance or counseling and attempt to benefit by it.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and originating new ideas and methods.
- Use verbal and non-verbal communication with others, i.e., courtesy, tone of voice, facial expressions, gestures, etc.
- Protect the privacy of all client information in accordance with GRNH, LLC’s privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with the company’s policies and procedures on client privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding GRNH, LLC’s policies and procedures on client privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
