As a IT Specialist, you will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new technologies and for providing technical support.

The GS-14 salary range starts at $127,646 per year and dependent upon duty location.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
Applicants applying for the GS-14 grade level must meet the following requirements: Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service as described below:
IT SPECIALIST COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Attention to Detail - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant keeps abreast of latest technology, information, research, etc., to maintain knowledge in field of expertise (for example, reads trade journals, participates in professional/technical associations, maintains credentials).
Customer Service - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant promotes or develops and maintains good working relationships with key individuals or groups.
Oral Communication - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant serves on panels, committees, or task forces as a representative for the organization on technical or professional issues.
Problem Solving - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant monitors current trends or events (for example, technological, economic, political, social, educational, or employment trends or events) and applies the information as appropriate.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Specialized experience is defined as:
- Providing technical authority in information systems security, utilizing advanced IT security principles to ensure compliance with state-of-the-art requirements;
- Delivering comprehensive analytical and customer outreach support to strategically address and mitigate complex cybersecurity risks;
- Leading, planning, developing, and managing multiple complex IT programs and projects, including establishing requirements, supporting acquisition, coordinating stakeholders, and overseeing all deliverables, costs, and performance outcomes; and
- Interpret and leverage IT laws, regulations, and cybersecurity frameworks to provide authoritative guidance on security, enforce compliance, and strategically support the development and execution of IT governance processes.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a recognized technical expert in INFOSEC principles and practices, the incumbent performs analytical and customer outreach work to ensure that FAS products and services meet state-of-the-art information security requirements in response to Government needs.
- Develops and recommends technical solutions and provides technical guidance in IT security implementation to Federal agency clients in accordance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Executive Orders (EO), Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) requirements.
- Maintains expert knowledge of current IT and telecommunications technology and of associated emerging technologies and their applicability to customers.
- Develops and recommends requirements and participates in the development and implementation of acquisition and program strategies
- Operates as a strategic liaison and expert consultant to senior ITC management on a wide range of matters that directly shape and influence ITC strategic outreach and engagement objectives, policies, events, executive briefings, and other activities.
