Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Medical Device
Location: Danvers, Massachusetts (Fully Onsite)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of advanced medical devices and electromechanical systems. This role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, hands-on design expertise, and the ability to work independently on complex engineering projects from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate mechanical and electromechanical systems and components, including metals, plastics, instruments, and machinery.
- Lead product development activities from concept through design verification, validation, and transfer to manufacturing.
- Create detailed designs for tooling, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures to support production processes.
- Utilize SolidWorks and PDM systems for 3D modeling, documentation, and design control.
- Conduct engineering analysis related to mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, and energy transfer systems.
- Evaluate and recommend design improvements to enhance product performance, safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and external vendors.
- Support design reviews, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance activities within the medical device domain.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and product designs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical or electromechanical design.
- Strong experience in electromechanical system design.
- Hands-on experience designing tooling, molds, dies, jigs, or fixtures.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including experience with PDM environments.
- Experience working in regulated environments (medical device preferred).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project execution skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting R&D to manufacturing transfer.
- Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards.
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
