Griffith Centers is seeking a Recreational Therapist to support our Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) by developing and facilitating engaging recreational and educational activities for youth. This role helps create enriching experiences that foster physical wellness, social connection, skill development, and community engagement. The Recreational Therapist also partners with community organizations and stakeholders to strengthen relationships and expand opportunities that align with the mission and goals of the QRTP.

Responsibilities:
- Research, Plan and implement community-based recreational and physical education activities for QRTP clients.
- Coordinate and lead structured group activities that support physical, emotional and social development.
- Collaborate with the education team to plan and schedule Community-Based Curricular activities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, groups, and stakeholders to foster ongoing partnerships.
- Maintain required documentation, risk assessments, and schedules for activities and events.
Schedule:
11 AM – 7 PM; schedule subject to change based on business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation, recreation therapy, recreation management, kinesiology, psychology, social work, education, or a closely related human services field and an active Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification preferred
- OR a master’s degree in a Human Services field from a regionally accredited college or university with an active DORA license and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) certification.
- Experience working with youth in residential, community, or educational settings highly desired.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for working with youth, staff, and community partners.
- Creative, adaptable, and able to inspire positive participation.
- Valid driver's license and ability to transport youth as applicable.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to maintain healthy emotional and physical boundaries in personal and professional relationships.
- Ability to work with sensitivity to the cultural and/or socioeconomic diversity of the agency’s clients and staff.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and trust.
- Must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening as a condition of employment, in accordance with Colorado Department of Human Services regulations for childcare facilities. This screening includes initial and ongoing state criminal background checks, fingerprinting, sex offender registry searches, and abuse and neglect clearances. If the employee has lived in any other state within the past five years, equivalent background and abuse/neglect checks from those states will also be conducted. In addition, employees are required to complete a health evaluation or physical examination prior to beginning service to confirm fitness for duty, and annually thereafter.
