About the role:  

The Human Resources Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the HR Services team and ensuring the successful delivery of human resources services to our clients. Reporting to the Human Resources Executive, this role manages client projects, leads and supports HR team members, and drives the implementation of internal processes that support operational excellence. The Human Resources Team Lead works closely with the Human Resources Executive and CEO to align execution with overall strategy, while serving as the primary point of contact for team performance, project delivery, and client satisfaction at the operational level.


Type: Part-Time Independent Contractor (with path to Full-Time W2)

Starting pay: $33–35/hour

Location: Remote from Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina

Hours: Starting at ~10 hours per week, with expected ramp to full-time


Additional Details:

  • Structured 90-day ramp-up period with defined performance expectations and growth milestones
  • Initial focus on client-facing HR work; team leadership responsibilities added upon successful completion of ramp-up period
  • Opportunity to transition to a full-time W2 role following successful performance evaluation
  • Expected availability during standard business hours (Monday–Friday, EST)


Responsibilities:

Internal Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operations of the HR services team, including project execution and process adherence. This includes: reviewing team hours and utilization on a weekly basis to ensure alignment with project plans and budget targets; maintaining visibility into weekly project updates and overall team progress; ensuring team adherence to internal documentation standards and proper storage of client materials; developing and refining internal workflows to improve efficiency and support cross-functional collaboration.
  • Leads weekly 1:1 meetings and provides real-time guidance and support to HR team members to ensure consistency and excellence in delivery.
  • Conducts the onboarding, training, and development of HR team members.
  • Provides coaching and real-time support to team members in navigating and solving client issues.
  • Provides input on process improvements and helps implement internal systems that support team productivity, client success, and operational scale.
  • Monitors team capacity, schedules, and workload to ensure efficiency and appropriate resource allocation.
  • Collaborates with the Human Resources Executive to implement department goals and support broader strategic initiatives.
  • Oversees usage and compliance of HR tools, systems, and platforms; provides coaching on best practices.
  • Monitors team performance and supports the Human Resources Executive in conducting evaluations and addressing performance challenges.
  • Ensures that all HR practices are in alignment with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintains relevant knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate relevant changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management as it pertains to talent acquisition.
  • Tracks team development, certifications, and training progress; ensures alignment with company budget and professional growth goals.
  • Actively participates in the interview process for new HR team members and supports internal recruitment efforts as needed.


External Responsibilities

  • Oversees the HR services function, ensuring that all services to clients are effective, cohesive, and consistent with the needs and objectives of the company. This includes: participating in and/or leading client meetings; ensuring team adherence to documentation standards, including accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of client records; maintaining visibility into all active client engagements and priorities, and intervening as needed to address risks, remove obstacles, and ensure successful outcomes; Staying actively engaged in client communications to ensure alignment and service quality.
  • Ensures all client deliverables meet company standards for budget, deadline, accuracy, professionalism, and service excellence.
  • Identifies client needs or concerns, explores resolutions, and escalates appropriately to the Human Resources Executive.
  • Establishes a strong working relationship with clients. Ensures that clients receive the highest possible service and if needed, takes action to problem-solve and correct performance issues.
  • Provides human resources services to clients, including but not limited to: managing employee relations, investigations, performance issues, and day-to-day HR matters; administering HR programs such as compensation, benefits, leave of absence, and performance management, and responding to related inquiries; developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies, handbooks, and supporting documentation; ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and advising clients on regulatory requirements and best practices; supporting training and development initiatives, delivering presentations, and partnering with internal HR leadership to address client needs and drive effective HR solutions; implementing and supporting HR technology solutions, including system setup, optimization, and ongoing client adoption.
  • Monitors client budgets against team utilization, ensuring work remains within scope; identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, expand services, and increase client value.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of HR industry practices with demonstrated experience in all functional areas of HR (e.g., compensation and benefits, employee development, labor relations, employee relations, performance management, and compliance – federal, state, and local employment and hour and wage laws, FLSA, FMLA/OFLA, workers’ compensation, ADA, EEO, ACA). 
  • Knowledge of providing guidance and consultation regarding policy and procedures to the organization, including the C-suite, directors, managers and employees at all levels. Ability to display business acumen and to understand assigned Talent Acquisition services, goals, and challenges.
  • Skill in problem solving, analysis, planning and organization; ability to work independently and effectively plan and prioritize work to accomplish multiple projects with competing deadlines and drive appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing as well as interpersonally, and skills in influencing all levels of the organization, including the C-suite, directors, managers and employees, and external agencies, and in small and large group settings.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of effective supervision, human behavior, organizational alignment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, HRIS and applicant tracking systems, collaboration tools, and online recruitment platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee a team, including coaching, performance management, workload oversight, and ensuring consistent execution of responsibilities and deliverables.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of human resources experience required.
  • 3 years of experience in a team lead or managerial role within a human resources or client service environment.
  • PHR or SHRM certification highly preferred

Working Conditions:

Employees of Griffin Resources operate in a professional office environment. Employees must provide themselves with a designated workspace free from noise and distractions when working remotely. The employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and virtual tools such as web cameras and video programs. The employee must be camera ready during normal working hours. The employee may be required to work in or visit client offices and must be able to transport himself/herself to various locations.
