What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Owner position at Grey Parrot Systems LLC?
About the Company
Grey Parrot Systems (GPARROT) is a women-owned, BEP and WBENC-certified IT services firm serving Chicago, Detroit, and the broader Midwest. We combine 50 years of CIO/CTO leadership with AI-native engineering talent to deliver solutions on time, on budget, and at mid-market-friendly costs. AI-first. Governance-driven. Results you can trust.
About the Role
At GPARROT, we are redefining how software gets built. Our AI SDLC Product Owner will write structured, machine-readable user stories and acceptance criteria that MCP (Model Context Protocol) agents can consume directly to generate UI components, backend code, and API contracts — dramatically compressing the gap between requirements and working software. This role requires someone who thinks like a PO, writes like an engineer, and understands how AI coding agents interpret and act on structured context. If you have been experimenting with Claude, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot and already think about how to write prompts and stories that AI can execute — this role was built for you.
Responsibilities
- Write AI SDLC user stories structured specifically for MCP agents to read and act on — generating UI components, backend logic, and API contracts automatically
- Define acceptance criteria in a format that AI coding agents can validate and execute
- Collaborate with engineering leads to establish user story templates and conventions that maximize AI code generation accuracy
- Work with Claude Code, Cursor, and other agentic tools to validate that stories produce the intended outputs
- Bridge the gap between business stakeholders and AI-driven development teams
- Own and prioritize the product backlog with an AI-first delivery mindset
- Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and sprint reviews
- Continuously refine story structure and MCP context conventions as tooling evolves
- Champion structured, AI-readable documentation standards across the entire SDLC
Qualifications
- 5 years of Product Owner or Business Analyst experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Deep understanding of how AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) consume structured context to generate code (Optional)
- Ability to write MCP-aligned user stories — structured, precise, and machine-readable (Optional)
- Strong knowledge of UI/UX patterns and backend architecture to write technically accurate stories
- Experience with prompt engineering and AI tool workflows
- Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or agentic AI development pipelines
- Must be local to Naperville, IL — fully on-site role
Preferred Skills
- Experience working on AI-native or agentic software products
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe PO/PM certification
- Familiarity with REST API design, component-based UI architecture, or database schema design
- Experience with vibe coding workflows and rapid AI-assisted prototyping
- Prior exposure to LangGraph, RAG pipelines, or AI workflow orchestration platforms
