What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Technician position at Gregory Poole Equipment Company?
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for moving, cleaning and making minor repairs on rental equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Greet customers and truck drivers when they arrive on the yard and directs customers or drivers to appropriate representatives.
- Loads and unloads equipment and attachments for repair/service, rentals, returns or pick-ups, new & used sales, etc.
- Keep equipment and attachments organized on the yard, including staging CAT-owned units for pre-inspection by GPEC shop.
- Acts as a liaison between Cat used and GPEC, monitoring, logging and inventorying CAT-Owned units.
- Processes paperwork for release of CAT-owned (CAT used) equipment when sold off the yard, ensuring correct unit is released
- Performs routine rental equipment preparations such as cleaning, checking and filling fluid levels, refueling, and performing minor adjustments
- Utilize Gate log app to take digital photographs of equipment and attachments regarding inbound, and outbound transactions, noting service issues and/or customer damage.
- Moves and organizes work tool inventory, including updating labeling of work tools.
- Removes old rainbow tags, and replace with new, filled out rainbow tags on all rental equipment.
- Must follow safe working practices at all times.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High school graduate or GED equivalent
Work Experience:
Previous machinery experience preferred but not required. PC exposure is also preferred but not required.
Physical:
Job is physically demanding. Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend and climb up and down from equipment. Must be able to routinely lift and handle items up to 70 lbs.
