Position: Chemist II

Our client, a leading research organization, is seeking a Chemist II to support analytical testing of drinking water and emerging contaminants (including PFAS) in an accredited laboratory. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with solid environmental lab experience who wants to grow their expertise in method development, validation, and advanced instrumentation.

Job Description
- Support development, optimization, and validation of EPA analytical methods for drinking water testing
- Perform method validation activities (MDLs, accuracy, precision, linearity, robustness)
- Analyze and review data, including chromatograms and mass spectra, to ensure quality and compliance
- Operate and troubleshoot GC-MS and LC-MS/MS instrumentation
- Follow and help refine SOPs and quality documentation
- Assist with QC processes, reporting limits, and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with QA and senior chemists on method implementation and improvements
- Support audit readiness and documentation efforts
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in an environmental or analytical laboratory
- Hands-on experience with GC-MS and/or LC-MS/MS
- Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Exposure to EPA drinking water methods (beyond routine sample analysis)
- Experience with sample prep techniques (SPE, LLE)
- Familiarity with contaminants such as VOCs, SVOCs, pesticides, or pharmaceuticals
