The Part-Time Juvenile Court Community Service Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and supervising youth participating in court-ordered community service. This position ensures compliance with court expectations while promoting accountability, skill development, and positive community engagement.
This role is aligned with the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Transformational Probation framework, emphasizing purposeful, strength-based opportunities for youth to give back to their community, build competencies, and successfully complete court involvement. Community service is utilized as an intervention that promotes connection, responsibility, and pro-social skill development.
This position is an unclassified employee pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 124.11(A)(9) and serves at the pleasure of the Judge pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 2151.13.
Shifts: Mostly weekdays, with the occasional possibility of weekends. It will primarily split 1st and 2nd shift.JOB DUTIES (Examples may not be comprehensive):
•Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations to create meaningful and appropriate service opportunities for youth.
•Supervise youth assigned to community service individually and/or in group settings.
•Ensure youth comply with court-ordered requirements including attendance, conduct, and productivity.
•Provide structure, coaching, and mentorship to promote accountability and skill development.
•Monitor behavior and utilize de-escalation techniques when necessary.
•Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with risk management standards.
•Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure appropriateness and safety of service locations.
•Transport youth to and from community service sites as needed.
•Maintain accurate records of attendance, hours completed, and performance.
•Communicate regularly with probation officers, court staff, and community partners regarding youth progress.
•Report incidents, accidents, or violations in a timely manner.
•Assist in building a structured, intentional community service program aligned with evidence-based practices.
•Any and all other duties as assigned by the Judge, Director of Probation and/or Court Administrator.

•High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience with youth and/or juvenile offenders sufficient to perform the job duties as listed above.
•Experience working with youth, at-risk populations, or within the juvenile justice system preferred.
Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and professional reference check; affirmative duty to report prior and/or current misconduct; confirmation of valid Drivers’ license; and confirmation of degrees, licenses and or/certificates. Misconduct includes any criminal charges, traffic violations, substantiated child abuse charges or convictions, substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment involving your former or current employer, and any news worthy information that may be detrimental to the employee or Greene County Juvenile Court.
Greene County Juvenile Court is located at 2100 Greene Way Blvd, Xenia, OH 45385; the Assessment and Intervention Centers are located immediately behind the Court at 701-Dayton-Xenia Road, Xenia OH 45385. The Juvenile Court campus includes the Court, Detention Center, Miami Valley Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, and Assessment and Intervention Centers, as well as accompanying outdoor spaces.
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor community-based settings, as well as at the Juvenile Justice Complex. Duties include supervising youth in various environments which may include exposure to weather conditions and unpredictable situations. Work hours are flexible and will vary based on community service site locations, group schedules, and program needs. Evening and weekend hours may be required. Position requires standing, walking, and moderate physical activity, including transporting youth and working in community settings.
Required training includes but is not limited to:
•Individualized training for all job functions listed, as well as annual in-service training through the Court.
•Successful completion of all required orientation and onboarding training as mandated by the Juvenile Court.
•Training in juvenile justice policies and procedures, including court protocols, confidentiality, and documentation standards.
•Completion of behavior management and de-escalation training (e.g., crisis intervention techniques) within a specified timeframe after hire.
•Certification in First Aid and CPR (or ability to obtain within 60–90 days of hire).
•Training in trauma-informed care and working with at-risk youth.
•Instruction on safety procedures, including emergency response, incident reporting, and risk management.
•Training on cultural competency and diversity awareness.
•All staff are provided training on fire safety, hazardous materials and communication, and defensive driving. All staff are provided with online training modules through the Supreme Court of Ohio, including but not limited to: Security for Court Staff, Legal Information vs. Advice, Professional Ethics, etc. The Community Service Coordinator may be required to attend other trainings as determined appropriate by the Judge, Court Administrator and/or Director.

Court Expectations of Employee: In completing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the Court expects the employee will adhere to all court policies, guidelines, practices and procedures; act as a role model both inside and outside the Court; maintain the confidentiality of sensitive matters; perform duties as workload necessitates in a timely, accurate and thorough manner; be conscientious about meeting productivity standards; and communicate regularly with the Judge about all Court related issues.
Employees of the Court are at-will employees and serve at the pleasure of the Court; they are not in the classified civil service system and are not members of bargaining units.
