Quality Machine Shop Inspector - 2nd Shift

The quality inspector is responsible for making sure parts are inspected 100% to meet customer needs.

What You'll Do:

• Interpret casting blueprints and GD&T callouts.
• Assist with 1st article verification on CMM/ layout table. Recommend changes to the machining process as required.
• Inspect machined castings using measuring instruments (e.g. height gauge, calipers, micrometer, gages etc.)
• Perform 100% inspection on castings with prior customer issues.
• Complete machining process audit daily. Report findings to Quality/Machine Shop Supervisor.
• Investigate suspect castings and create scrap report on MS Excel.
• Perform job functions to facilitate compliance with IATF 16949 (ISO/TS).
• Maintain a professional and clean working area (5S)
• Adhere to company’s safety practices and wear appropriate PPE.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Other duties as assigned by supervision.

What We Need from You:

• Minimum of a high school education.
• Experience in quality control and CNC machining process.
• Must be able to stand, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment, physical, drug screen, and background check.
• Must be able to pass medical clearance: asthma, COPD, breathing conditions, respiratory conditions, high blood pressure are potential causes of failing a medical clearance.
• Basic knowledge on blueprint reading and ductile iron castings.
• Experience with CMM and manual measuring instruments (preferred).
• Basic computer skills.
• Good math and analytical skills.
• Bilingual – English and Spanish.

Training Skills:

• Associate will take place in training program for specific position.
• Associate will learn to program CMM on PC-DMIS software.
• Associate will learn to the use of manual measuring instruments, learn to analyze casting defects, interpret GD&T callouts, gage R&R study, and basic requirements in IATF 16949 standard.
