Rutland Town School Custodian (2:30 P.M.-11:00 P.M.) Full Time - Rutland Town School has an opening for a 1 FTE custodian, 2:30-11:00 P.M. Rutland Town is looking for a responsible custodian to work full-time to maintain and protect our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects upon the occupants. It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Cleans and disinfects bathrooms and classrooms; restocks supplies.Vacuums, dust mops and wet mops floors, and spot washes walls.
Dusts or vacuum furniture.Arranges classroom furniture, cleans chalkboards and whiteboards, and restocks copier paper.Cleans entrances. Sweeps outside steps and entries, polices the outside perimeter of the building.Collects and removes all trash.Arranges furniture in classrooms and commonly used spaces.Keeps records and makes reports.Prepares daily work order log.Interacts appropriately with staff and community members.Identifies damage and missing items from assigned areas and reports them to the maintenance director.Supports the recycling program.Secures facilities after hours by locking doors and windows and setting the alarm.Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from the maintenance director.Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental practices and procedures.Operates and maintains equipment such as auto scrubbers, sweepers and shampooers.Washes windows.Responsible for cleaning up any blood spills/accidents using proper procedures.Inspects fire extinguishers on a monthly basis.Sets up and removes furniture and equipment for special events.Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products and equipment. Knowledge of basic equipment operation is helpful.Prompt and consistent attendance.Exercises good time management and plans absences in advance.Able to follow written and oral instructions. Able to establish and maintain working relations with supervisor, fellow workers, students, faculty and the rest of the GRCSU staff.
May be required to work independently. Able to follow a schedule. Must be willing to work overtime and at events if necessary.Physical effort and stress: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, and moving the entire body.Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.Frequently stands, walks, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls under, around, or through stationary objects.The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb stairs or ladders, and balance from heights above the ground.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing more than 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
