Position Summary
The ESY School Nurse provides health services and medical support to students participating in the Extended School Year program to ensure safe access to learning. This role supports students with medical, developmental, and health-related needs in accordance with physician orders, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Individualized Health Care Plans (IHPs), and district policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to students during the ESY program, including health monitoring and emergency response.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, IHPs, and district procedures.
Support students with complex medical needs, which may include seizure management, diabetes care, tube feeding, respiratory support, and mobility or positioning assistance.
Monitor student health status and respond appropriately to illness, injury, or medical emergencies.
Collaborate with special education staff, related service providers, and administrators to support student safety and access to instruction.
Maintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation.
Train and support ESY staff on student-specific medical protocols as appropriate.
Communicate with families and medical providers as needed regarding student health concerns during ESY.
Ensure compliance with all state regulations, district policies, and school health standards.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized health office or assigned care space.
Required Qualifications
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), as required by the district
