What are the responsibilities and job description for the GRCSU-Occupational Therapy Assistant position at Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union?
GRCSU-Occupational Therapy Assistant- Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our student services team. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will support students’ access to learning by promoting independence, engagement, and functional participation within the school environment. Key Responsibilities:
Implement occupational therapy interventions and accommodations as outlined in student IEPs or 504 plans under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist (OTR/L).
Work collaboratively with educators, services providers, and other staff to support student success.
Provide indirect and direct services using a consultative approach, supporting student participation within natural routines and school environments.
Model and coach classroom staff on strategies to enhance student function and engagement, including motor development, self-regulation, executive functioning, assistive technology, prevocational/ vocational skills, and environmental accommodations paired with data collection
Contribute to team meetings and planning sessions, sharing observations and insights to help inform OT goals and service decisions.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
Valid Vermont license or certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
School-based or pediatric experience preferred, but not required
Understanding of IDEA, Section 504, and educational support systems
Salary : $27 - $35
