What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resource Management Technician position at Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation, Inc?
Supervised by Natural Resource Management Specialist
40 hours per week (weather permitting), Seasonal Position (March-November), Hourly (non-exempt)
Objective:
Seasonal Resource Management Technicians work directly with the Natural Resource Management Specialist in the Natural Resources Department to conserve and manage the park’s natural resources through sustainable trail maintenance and resource management.
Major Duties:
- Serves as a frontline representative of the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation
- Maintains the Grandfather Mountain trail system through regular maintenance
- Manages the Grandfather Mountain natural resources through invasive species removal and biodiversity monitoring
- Patrols park trail system to answer questions and ensure visitors are acting in a safe manner
- Utilize citizen science to monitor park biodiversity and provide engagement for guests
- Provides critical information to staff and guests as to best practices to protect our endangered species
- Responds to emergency calls and takes appropriate action following established protocols and procedures
- May serve as a parking attendant and assist in trash pickup in various capacities
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary
