Steel Estimator

Company: Our client company fabricates and installs light structural steel and miscellaneous metal packages up to $5Million for the commercial construction industry. On the Crains Chicago list of Best places to work in 2023, their company has been built on a foundations of good relationships with their customer and employees. Friday's are a Flex day and can be taken remotely.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate cost estimates for miscellaneous and architectural steel fabrication projects. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, industry knowledge, and strong analytical skills to ensure competitive and profitable bids.

Estimator Key Responsibilities

• Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to determine scope of work and materials required.
• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and precise estimates.
• Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of costs and pricing for materials and labor.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions to gather essential project information.
• Prepare and present bids and proposals in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor and update estimates throughout the project lifecycle as needed.
  
  

Estimator Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating within the steel fabrication industry, with a focus on miscellaneous and architectural steel.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam or similar tools).
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines.
