Hiring: Full-Time Educational Assistant

School: Children's Commons Ecological Society

Pay: From CA$20.00 per hour (experience may result in higher pay)

In 2015 CCES founded Calgary’s first Nature Kindergarten offering the Alberta Kindergarten curriculum through learner-led exploration of the natural world.

It is a government-approved and publicly-funded kindergarten, in which children will spend the majority of their days exploring and learning in nature. It is the first in Calgary and one of only a few operating across Canada.

Educational Assistant – Job Description

Interested candidate should:

• Ideally have early childcare certification education or teaching aide certification
• Have experience working with children aged 4-6 years old
• Have experience with collaborative problem solving model and sensory regulation
• Have experience and/or knowledge of working in an emergent curriculum environment and the Reggio Emilia philosophy
• Be flexible and looks forward to responding to planning to changes in programming as the day requires - based on weather or the interests of the children
• Enjoy collaboration and working in a team planning environment
• Have or be willing to take first aid certification
• Have or be willing to submit a current (within 3 months) criminal record and vulnerable sector check
• Is able to get to our school at Rosemont Community Association (2807 10 St NW, Calgary, AB T2K 1H2)
  
  

This Position Will

• Work directly to support children and the classroom teacher in daily routines and activities including risk assessment with children.
• The majority of day is spent in the outdoors in all seasons except in extreme weather;
• Be part of weekly team planning
• Available 5 days per week (Monday- Friday) 8:30am to 4:30pm
• Pay $20 per hour to start
• Begins just prior to the 2026-2027 school year (end of August 2026)
