About the Role

GLOVIS America is seeking a strategic and operationally focused Director of Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) Operations to lead the end-to-end execution and development of our Finished Vehicle Logistics network. This senior leadership role is responsible for the operational performance and strategic growth of Ports, Vehicle Processing Centers (VPCs), Rail operations, and Trucking networks throughout the organization.

Reporting directly to the COO, this position serves at the intersection of operations, strategy, and commercial alignment. The Director will play a critical role in shaping the future of the FVL network through growth initiatives, investment collaboration, network expansion, infrastructure development, and service capability enhancement to support both current and future OEM customers. This role is also designed as a key leadership succession position with the expectation of assuming broader organizational responsibilities over time.


Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Operational Leadership

  • Provide full ownership of the Ports, VPCs, Rail, and Truck execution network.
  • Deliver consistent, reliable, scalable, and efficient operational performance across all FVL functions

Strategic Network Development & Execution

  • Partner directly with the COO to define and execute the long-term FVL operational strategy.
  • Translate company growth objectives into scalable operational capabilities and network design.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for:
  • Geographic expansion (ports, inland terminals, and VPCs)
  • Capacity enhancement and infrastructure development
  • New service offerings aligned with OEM requirements
  • Contribute to network planning, footprint optimization, and capital investment decisions.


Commercial Alignment & Business Growth

  • Collaborate closely with Commercial leadership to ensure operational readiness for new business opportunities.
  • Align operational capabilities with customer commitments and contractual requirements.
  • Engage directly with OEM leadership to:
  • Support solution design
  • Validate operational feasibility
  • Strengthen GLOVIS America's positioning as a comprehensive end-to-end FVL provider
  • Drive proactive operational support for customer growth and expansion initiatives.


Execution of Growth Strategy

  • Lead the operational deployment of company growth initiatives.
  • Ensure seamless onboarding of new customers and volume flows.
  • Develop scalable and repeatable deployment models.
  • Achieve rapid stabilization of new operations while preventing service disruptions and cost leakage.
  • Translate strategic business wins into disciplined operational execution.


Operational Excellence & Performance

  • Own and manage operational KPIs including:
  • Aging
  • W/S objectives
  • Dwell time
  • Transit time
  • Throughput
  • Cost performance
  • Damage metrics
  • Drive synchronization and optimization across all transportation modes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives throughout the network.


Enterprise Leadership & Succession Mandate

  • Serve as a key member of the COO leadership team.
  • Contribute to:
  • Company-wide operational strategy
  • Cross-functional decision-making
  • Long-term business planning
  • Organizational design initiatives
  • Strategic prioritization efforts
  • Business transformation projects
  • Influence outcomes beyond immediate functional responsibilities.


Leadership Development & Succession Readiness

  • Build and lead a high-performing operations organization.
  • Develop future leaders across all FVL functions.
  • Demonstrate enterprise-level leadership in:
  • Strategic decision-making
  • Financial and operational trade-off analysis
  • Executive stakeholder engagement
  • Progressively assume expanded responsibilities aligned with COO-level expectations, including:
  • Oversight of broader operational functions
  • Participation in executive planning and governance
  • Direct involvement in major business decisions

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.


Required

  • 10–15 years of direct experience.
  • 10 years of indirect experience.
  • 7–10 years of supervisory leadership experience


Preferred

  • 13–18 years of direct experience.
  • 10 years of indirect experience.
  • 7–10 years of supervisory leadership experience.


Experience in:

  • Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL)
  • Automotive industry
  • OEM environments
  • Dealer networks


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Extensive knowledge of the automotive industry, including FVL, OEMs, Vehicle Processing Centers, Port Operations, and Transportation.
  • Strong business development mindset.
  • Experience managing complex customer relationships.
  • Proven success leading large organizations with both direct and indirect labor structures.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with executive leadership internally and externally.
  • Strong financial acumen, including P&L management, cost control, cost reduction initiatives, and operational cost analysis.
  • Outstanding leadership capabilities.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based and requires:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent use of computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other office equipment.
  • Strong manual dexterity for typing, writing, and computer use.

Salary : $280,000 - $326,000
