Extension Possible: YesJob OverviewThe Solutions (Application) Architect will work within Connected Technologies, providing technical solutioning and architectural leadership for enterprise and cloud-native applications. This role is focused on designing, proposing, and governing technical strategies—not hands-on coding—while partnering closely with engineering, security, and business teams to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.This position supports a connected vehicle program and requires strong expertise in microservices, AWS cloud, security, and DevSecOps practices. An Export Control form is required at onboarding.Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Enterprise Architecture strategy, establishing standards, frameworks, and guidelines
- Analyze complex business and technical problems and design end-to-end application architectures
- Partner with technology teams and business stakeholders to conceptualize new solutions and recommend technologies and implementation strategies
- Author and review architecture, design, and technical documents to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Review technical approaches to ensure functional and non-functional requirements are met
- Mentor and guide technical teams across multiple architecture styles and technologies
- Provide guidance on testing strategy, performance testing, profiling, and tuning
- Define and communicate complex technical solutions in clear business language
- Enforce architecture governance, standards, and principles toward target-state architecture
- Create Level 1 architecture diagrams (vehicle-to-cloud, channel-to-cloud, system architecture)
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and web security teams to ensure compliance
- Act as an individual contributor who enjoys collaboration, mentoring, and security-first design
- 10 years of IT experience; 3 years as an Architect
- Strong experience in Microservices Architecture (Kubernetes-focused)
- AWS cloud experience (mandatory) with strong emphasis on security and privacy
- Experience with DevSecOps / DevOps practices
- Mastery in one or more of: Java, Golang, Python
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and application design principles
- Experience creating UML or C4 architecture representations
- Ability to act as a trusted advisor to application teams
- Experience working in Agile/JIRA environments
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of authentication/authorization standards (OpenID, SAML, OAuth, JWT, X.509, mTLS)
- Familiarity with TOGAF, service mesh concepts, and TechRadar practices
- Experience maintaining application roadmaps and long-term architecture strategies
- Exposure to mobile technologies, OCPP protocol, or Machine Learning modeling
- Role is within Connected Technologies
