Assistant Controller

Gillmann Services is seeking a skilled and detail oriented Assistant Controller for long term work near Beckley, WV!

**Must have relevant previous experience to be considered for this role**

Duties

• Manage the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist with general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards related to financial reporting.
• Perform accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and cash flow management.
• Support internal audits and coordinate external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support organizational growth objectives.
• Monitor regulatory reporting requirements and ensure timely submission of reports to relevant authorities.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA not required
• Minimum of two years public accounting experience
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP principles, technical accounting standards, and financial concepts
• Skilled in written and verbal communication, team-player mentality
• Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms *and* the ability to learn new software as necessary
• Strong analytical skills and Excel capabilities including data analysis functions
• Ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately and communicate findings to supervisor
