Legal Assistant – Litigation (Tampa, FL)
Overview
This role provides comprehensive legal administrative support in a fast-paced litigation environment. The Legal Assistant will deliver high-quality service to attorneys and clients while demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail. The position requires strong knowledge of law firm procedures, court systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage case opening, conflicts checks, records, and administrative processes
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence
- Perform e-filing in Federal and State courts in compliance with court rules
- Track and manage attorney and client expenses, including reimbursements
- Assist with the billing process, including:
- Time entry and narrative editing
- Tracking billable hours
- Preparing and delivering invoices
- Schedule state court hearings per court requirements
- Monitor and calculate legal deadlines to ensure timely filings
- Coordinate attorney calendars and client meetings
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files
- Handle incoming/outgoing mail and communications
- Answer, screen, and direct calls and emails professionally
- Assist with event coordination for attorney business development
- Deliver excellent client service consistently
Requirements
- 3–5 years of law firm experience, preferably in litigation
- Strong experience with Federal and State court filings
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys
- Knowledge of law firm administrative procedures and billing systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Work Environment
- On-site role (no remote or hybrid option)
- Requires regular use of computer, keyboard, and phone
- Must be able to manage tasks requiring attention to detail and focus
