Job Description
The Maintenance Planner is a pivotal role responsible for maximizing asset reliability and operational efficiency by developing, coordinating, and scheduling all maintenance activities (preventive, predictive, and corrective). This role requires meticulous planning, robust data management via a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to minimize production disruptions and ensure a safe, compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Develop comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) plans, adhering to equipment manufacturer recommendations, regulatory audit requirements, and established reliability standards.
- Translate incoming work requests into fully detailed, actionable maintenance work orders, defining clear scope, procedural steps, required materials/parts, and accurate labor hour estimations.
- Generate and distribute weekly and monthly maintenance schedules, prioritizing work based on production needs and equipment availability.
- Coordinate maintenance windows and downtime with Production, Facilities, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Quality Assurance departments to prevent operational disruption, ensuring all scheduled activities align with company policies.
Resource & Documentation Control
- Manage documentation control processes for all essential records, including physical and digital copies of equipment manuals, engineering drawings, single-line diagrams, and arc flash studies.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance activities as necessary.
- Maintain a robust, cloud-based record control system for Human-Machine Interface (HMI), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and robotic software backups, ensuring accessibility and version control.
- Schedule and track the inventory of specialized tools and equipment used by the maintenance team.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is current and audit-ready for internal and external reviews.
Data, Documentation & Systems Management
- Manage and optimize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), utilizing a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a planning or super-user capacity.
- Utilize SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems to extract data and generate performance reports.
- Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) in real time, including PM compliance percentage, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), overall downtime, backlog status, and the planned versus unplanned maintenance ratio.
Budget & Vendor Coordination
- Assist in managing Operational Expenditures (OPEX) related to maintenance activities.
- Support Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) management and control processes.
- Control and coordinate external vendors providing specialized PM services (e.g., infrared thermography, acoustic imaging, vibration analysis, temperature monitoring).
Compliance & Safety
- Guarantee all planned maintenance activities (reactive, predictive, and corrective) strictly comply with all safety protocols, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, environmental regulations, and corporate standards.
- Support the Quality department with the qualification and re-qualification of manufacturing equipment as required by regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Education
- Education: Technical diploma or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a closely related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive maintenance experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Systems Experience: Demonstrated experience managing CMMS platforms and maintenance scheduling processes is mandatory.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of diverse manufacturing machinery, including assembly equipment, robotics, molding machines, HVAC systems, and general plant utilities.
